But as Scripture says: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him."
Hands of Praise Deaf Choir
of Canaan Baptist Church, in Flint, Michigan. This Spirit-filled choir is on the move for Christ! Understanding the importance of spreading the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ (Mark 16 :15 ), The Hands of Praise Choir seeks to witness to all people ,both deaf and hearing. Approximately nine years ago, The Deaf/Sign Language Ministry was initiated by the late Sis.Kizzy Pitts , under the direction of Sis. Melecia Scott, with the approval and blessing of our Pastor, Rev.Charles E. Roots. Sis. Pitts began to teach some of Canaan's members beginning sign language so that we would be able to communicate with her. Kizzy was very enthusiastic and dedicated to teaching the sign language class, until her illness rendered her unable to teach. Kizzy, at age 27, Died in September of 2004, after battling with a rare form of cancer. However, through her faith in God and enthusiasm to serve Him, the Sign Language Ministry continued to grow.
The Hands of Praise Deaf Choir consists of both hearing and deaf members. The Hands of Praise Choir ministered for the first time on Sunday,October 16th, 2005, and was featured in the Flint Journal Sunday Newspaper. Since that day the Hands of Praise Deaf Choir has continued to grow, numerically and spiritually while ministering at various churches and organizations throughout the city. In addition, the Hands of Praise Deaf Choir ministered in their first concert on Saturday Febuary 25th , 2006 . In March 2006, the Hands of Praise Deaf Choir was invited to travel to Kingston, Jamacia to minister to the deaf children at the Carribbean Christian Center For the Deaf ''CCCD''. This was the first missonary journey for the choir. The missonary trip was very significant to CCCD because the Hands of Praise Choir was the first African-American team to travel to their school to minister spiritually and not just for physical labor. Through the work of the Holy Spirit , the sign language of the Hands of Praise Choir, and the preach gospel by Rev. Blake Scott , many children accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Jesus Savior .
